Best Jasper AI Alternatives
Frase – Affordable Jasper alternative

Frase is an all-in-one AI-powered content creation and optimization platform that stands out for its unique features and affordable pricing.
Unlike Jasper and other platforms that solely rely on GPT-fed data, Frase takes a different approach by also utilizing competitor content. This ensures that your generated content is factual and accurate, with information taken from the already-ranking content.

For technical writers, this is good!
But that’s not even the best of it.
It has its own SEO tool that scans the top 20 ranking articles for your keyword and provides an in-depth breakdown of the headings used in each, along with a list of relevant keywords you can add to your article to rank higher on SERP. You can refer to my Frase review to explore this in detail.
This is similar to the SurferSEO integration with Jasper (read my review for more details), the difference being that with Frase, you don’t have to pay separately for both; it all comes under the single $14.99 price tag.
Pros
- Generate content and optimize for search engines: Along with generating your content, Frase also shows the recommended word count, number of images, the number of headings, and topic score to guide users in creating content that aligns with search engine preferences.
- Affordable pricing: Frase stands out for its affordability, thanks to its proprietary AI model. Users can access advanced content creation and optimization features without incurring high costs, making it an attractive option for individuals and small businesses.
- Technical content capabilities: Frase excels in handling technical content by leveraging competitors’ actual content instead of blindly composing with GPT-3 fed data. This ensures that the generated content is factually correct and meets the requirements of specialized industries.
Cons
- Learning curve: While Frase offers a user-friendly interface, beginners who are not familiar with SEO and AI-driven tools may experience a steeper learning curve. It may require some time to grasp the platform’s capabilities and utilize them effectively.
- Limited customization options: Users looking for highly specific customization options, such as the ability to deeply modify AI-generated drafts or tailor content to unique brand voices, may find Frase’s customization capabilities to be lacking in comparison to more flexible content creation tools.
- Increased prices for higher limits: The Solo plan has a limitation of four articles per month for both writing and optimization and only allows single-person use. If you require a higher limit, you would need to consider the Basic or Team plans, which come at a higher cost.
Koala
Koala is an impressive SEO tool that you should strongly consider for blog content writing, especially if you’re planning to use ChatGPT.
You can enter a keyword, blog post title, and initial instructions, and it generates an outline.
You can customize the outline and provide specific instructions for each section.
When you click on ‘Generate’, Koala executes the instructions, gathers live Google content, and creates a final article.
Unlike other tools, Koala allows you to edit the outline and provide custom instructions for each section.
It uses GPT-4 and is priced at just $9 per month. For $9 per month, you can generate up to 15,000 words.

For most people out there, the Starter or the Professional plan would be the ideal choice.
You can consider upgrading to higher plans if you are into programmatic SEO. It even comes with a $2,000 per month plan that allows you to generate 10 million words per month.
It is really helpful if you’re into bulk content creation, especially as Koala comes with direct integration with WordPress.
Pros
- Bulk writing functionality: Koala allows you to write articles in bulk by providing a set of keywords and instructions. It’s a versatile tool for programmatic SEO, utilizing real-time search results and combining the power of GPT-4 and real-time internet data access.
- Affordability: Compared to hiring content writers, Koala is an affordable option considering the volume of data it handles. It effectively utilizes GPT-4 for content writing and also incorporates other models like GPT-3 and Claude for content improving purposes.
- KoalaChat: Koala Chat is similar to ChatGPT, but with access to real-time internet data, similar to Google BARD. This feature enhances the capabilities of Koala and makes it a valuable tool for generating content.
- Enhanced control: Unlike other one-shot article generators, Koala allows you to fine-tune the outline and add your own insights to ensure a personalized and hand-written article. With Koala, you have the opportunity to include specific instructions for each section in the outline, giving you greater control over the content.
Cons
- 4x credit usage surge with GPT-4: When using the GPT-4 engine, it uses 4x your credits, which can catch you off guard after logging in. However, depending on your niche, GPT-4 may not be necessary since Koala already provides real-time content.
- Easy to create low-quality content: Many people fail to invest time in including their own insights, refining the outline, and providing custom instructions before generating the content. This can result in generic articles lacking originality.
Bottom line: Koala is a great alternative to ChatGPT because it mimics the workflow you would follow with ChatGPT. Many ChatGPT users already prompt it to generate content section by section using the “browse with Bing” feature. However, Koila streamlines this process beautifully, eliminating the need for prompt design experience.
Notion AI – Closest competitor to Jasper

Content quality-wise, Notion AI is the toughest competition Jasper has had yet.
From generating blog posts to crafting sales emails, job descriptions, and social media posts, it effortlessly produces draft content that can be further customized. The integration of AI-driven features, such as automated summarization and explanation, allows for quick insights and efficient organization of data.

What really sells it, though, is Notion’s large community. You can access a wide array of templates created by numerous individuals that cater to your specific needs.
Tools like Core System, offer a comprehensive system that offers all your requirements in one place. It provides a centralized platform to access everything you need in a single tool. This streamlined approach means your work is better organized and better suited for scalability. Also, it comes with an AI system to manage all kinds of content creation.
Pros
- Versatile AI features: Notion AI offers various AI-powered writing tools, such as the blog post generator, summarize text, translation, meeting agenda, brainstorming ideas, social media posts, press releases, and job descriptions.
- Integration with existing content: The “continue writing” feature reads previous content and builds on top of it, providing a seamless transition and expanding ideas efficiently.
- Time-saving summarization: Notion AI can condense lengthy texts into key points, saving valuable time in information extraction and allowing for quick insights.
- Price: The AI option is available as an add-on priced at $10, so you will need a Notion account to access it. Fortunately, Notion offers free and paid account options—this means you won’t have to make two separate purchases if you don’t want to.
Cons
- Relevance of “continue writing”: The “continue writing” feature may not always be relevant to the previous content, occasionally requiring manual adjustments to align with the desired direction.
- Limitations in explanation length: The “explain this” feature provides concise explanations for highlighted text, which may not cover the full depth of lengthy passages.
- Lack of SEO tools: Unlike Jasper and Frase, Notion AI doesn’t provide SERP data to help you optimize your content. So if you’re looking for an all-in-one tool that goes beyond just generating content, this isn’t the best option.
Copy.ai – Best for long-form content creation

In fact, when comparing the content generated by Copy.ai and Jasper side by side, distinguishing between the two wouldn’t be the easiest task.
However, when it comes to options, Copy.ai wins fair and square; it has over 90 templates for different use cases, whereas Jasper only has a little over 50.

Plus, it also comes with its Freestyle tool, which allows you to provide a detailed account of what you’re looking for in your content instead of only providing a title, as you would with their long-form editor.

It is quite similar to their AI chat feature but with some noteworthy differences. It’s designed to be more optimized for different content types like emails and blog posts. The cool thing is it provides snippets of answers right, so you can easily pick the ones you like and include them in your text editor, all on a single page!
Whereas the Copy.ai chat feature is a conversational AI model. You can use it to improve your existing content if you have specific requirements or want to conduct research. However, you must copy and paste the generated answers into a document individually.
Pros
- Wide range of content: Copy.ai excels in producing content for various formats, including ads, blog posts, social media posts, and more. Essentially has the same feature as Jasper but at a less hefty price tag.
- Powered by GPT-3: Like Jasper and most other AI tools, Copy.ai is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-3 model, ensuring high-quality content generation. Although Jasper has recently stepped into the GPT-4 category, you don’t have the luxury of choosing; Jasper automatically decides for you.
Cons
- Slower workflow: We’ve noticed that Copy.ai is better at producing short-form content than long-form. The text is more detailed, better sounding, and has more overall depth to it when produced separately than with a larger blog post. Creating a blog section-by-section will take you a longer time than you would with Jasper.
- Not the best for SEO: Copy.ai isn’t too focused on SEO. The tool won’t help you with your keyword research or any other on-page optimization efforts. This is a significant disadvantage as Frase comes with an in-built SEO tool, and Jasper allows you to connect to SurferSEO.
Writesonic

Writesonic is another excellent alternative to Jasper. It offers a range of content generation abilities at an affordable price of $12.67 per month once you have dried up the 10,000-word limit of its free trial.
It’s a little less complicated to use than Jasper. If you aren’t familiar with AI, Writesonic can be your stepping stone into the field, as using it is easy and doesn’t require much of a learning curve.

We did notice that managing a large volume of generated articles can become cumbersome over time. Because, unlike Jasper and Frase, Writesonic doesn’t have the feature to create folders, so organizing your work isn’t the easiest task.
But you don’t have to jump into it completely blind; they allow a free plan that you can use to test the waters.
Pros
- Multiple AI models: Writesonic utilizes different AI models for different types of content. You have the ability to pick between GPT-3.5 or the newer GPT-4 model. Although the latter is the more advanced, you can conduct split testing to see which suits your needs best.
- Different tools for different needs: The platform offers diverse AI tools for specific content formats: AI Writer for long-form, Sonic Editor for essays/reports, and Paraphraser, Expander, and Shortner for various text-related tasks.
- Integrates with other tools: In addition to connecting seamlessly with WordPress, Writesonic also integrates with Surfer for SEO, DALL-E for image generation, and Copyscape to ensure the content is plagiarism-free.
- ChatSonic: A ChatGPT-like tool that allows you to enter a prompt and generate blogs, emails, essays, and more. Unlike their AI article writer, you can give specific instructions and provide a detailed rundown of what you need in your article.
Cons
- Doesn’t allow much control: While Writesonic provides customization options, they aren’t as nuanced as those you might find in Jasper. To generate content, all the input on your behalf is selecting a template and adding a few details about what you’re looking for.
Writer
Designed for larger brand teams and content creators, Writer offers a range of capabilities to streamline the writing process.
With multi-modal inputs and the ability to train the model using your own data and voice, Writer provides a customizable and versatile experience. The $18 per month price makes it an attractive option for businesses of all sizes.

It can integrate with a host of other services, including Chrome, Figma, Outlook, Google Docs, and more.
You can generate content in their dedicated blog generator or use the Ask Writer chatbot, as you would with ChatGPT or any of the other myriad of AI chatbots.
What’s really impressive, though, is the language model they’ve developed, called Palmyra. Which has been specifically trained with business writing and marketing data as its focus.
Pros
- Proprietary AI model: Writer.com’s advanced language models result in better writing outputs, improving the overall quality and accuracy of the content.
- API access: API integration allows for building on top of the platform, expanding its capabilities to meet specific needs.
- Customization options: The ability to train the model with your own data and voice allows for more personalized and tailored content generation.
Cons
- Output limitations: Despite the tool’s promises, some users may find that the generated outputs can occasionally fall short of expectations, requiring manual refinement.
- Better suited for business: Its enterprise-level features, collaboration tools, and customizable writing style make it ideal for teams and complex projects. It may be less suitable for individual users with simpler content needs.
Rytr

With its easy-to-navigate dashboard and a range of templates, Rytr simplifies the content creation process, whether you need video descriptions, testimonials, or blog post outlines.

What sets Rytr apart is its affordability and user-friendly interface, making it perfect for individuals looking to create engaging content without breaking the bank.
One advantage of Rytr is its free built-in plagiarism checker, ensuring content uniqueness without needing an additional tool. In contrast, Jasper requires an add-on purchase for integration with Copyscape. Although it is worth noting that Copyscape is considered superior.
Other platforms like Frase, Notion, and Copy.ai lack a plagiarism checker altogether.

You can even fine-tune particular pieces of text right in your content editor by simply selecting them and choosing from the range of options.
You can rephrase, improve readability, remove grammatical errors, and more.
But as you can see in the screenshot, when you select more than like say 300 characters, some crucial features like command improve, rephrase, and even shorten functionalities will be disabled. Thus, rendering these features almost useless.
Pros
- Affordable: Rytr offers a cost-effective solution for AI-generated content. It has a free plan that limits you to up to 10,000 characters per month. You can also increase the limit to 100,000 to unlimited characters with the Saver and Unlimited plans, respectively, priced at $9 and $29 per month each.
- Template variety: Rytr provides a wide range of templates for different content formats and has 40+ use cases.
- Integration with SEMrush: You can connect your Rytr account to Semrush to conduct keyword research and competitor analysis. You can take care of all key SEO functions and generate content for all in one place.
- Built-in plagiarism checker: Rytr’s included plagiarism checker saves the need for a separate tool, ensuring content uniqueness.
Cons
- Short-form content focus: Rytr’s strengths lie in generating short-form content, while longer articles may require additional steps.
Scalenut

Scalenut is another noteworthy alternative to Jasper that offers affordable content generation capabilities. Starting at $20 per month, it’s best for those who care about the SEO side of things more than content generation itself when creating blog posts using AI.
It is a comprehensive AI writing assistant that can assist you in creating engaging and high-quality content efficiently. Plus, the platform is designed with a user-friendly interface, making it easy to navigate and utilize its features, even for beginners.

However, many of the features that have become commonplace in many AI writing tools still seem to be missing from Scalenut. For example, the ability to enter commands directly into the content editor as you would with Jasper or Notion AI or even just a simple ChatGPT-like feature such as ChatSonic aren’t yet available.
You also don’t have the feature to choose a specific tone you want your content to sound like. Comparatively, Copy.ai allows you to choose the style of your text before you start writing. With Frase, Jasper, and Writesonic, you can simply ask their AI chatbot to do it for you.
Pros
- SEO optimization: Scalenut provides built-in SEO optimization tools that help you create content that is search-engine friendly and optimized for better visibility.
- Collaboration features: The platform allows for easy collaboration with team members, enabling multiple users to work together on content creation and editing.
- Keyword planner: Allows you to find related ideas for a specific keyword. Simply enter the keyword, select your target location, and start the analysis.
Cons
- Lack of advanced editing features: Scalenut may fall short in terms of providing advanced editing features for fine-tuning and polishing the generated content.
- Doesn’t have a chat feature.
Reword

By customizing the AI to match the user’s linguistic preferences, Reword generates high-quality content that can match the tone and style of other articles on your website. To do so, you can connect Reword with your Google Search Console account or simply enter the links to your published articles it can use to learn from.
This is a huge advantage over Jasper or any number of other tools, as the more you write, the smarter Reword becomes, and the more it learns of your preferences and writing style.
Regarding usability and content quality, while there may be more advanced options available, Reword does get the job done without much fuss on your end. Once you enter your topic, the tool will automatically provide suggestions for what you can include in the outline; it is up to you to decide which suggestions you want to incorporate.
Pros
- User-friendly interface and effortless collaboration features.
- SEO-friendly topic suggestions for enhanced ranking potential.
- Captures unique brand voice effectively.
Cons
- Relatively new platform with room for further development.
Simplified

Simplified offers templates for various content formats, including blog posts, social media captions, and product descriptions. It’s an ideal choice for individuals or small businesses on a tight budget as it comes with a free plan.
It’s fairly new, so it isn’t as sophisticated as Jasper, Frase, or any other tools mentioned in this list. However, if you want an article written in less than 5 minutes for free, it’s a great option that can get the job done.
Pros
- User-friendly interface: The platform’s easy-to-use interface allows for quick and efficient content creation. The website is easy to navigate, which is a huge plus as far as AI writing tools go.
- Versatile: It has over 50 AI templates to choose from, support for more than 25 languages, and an AI short-form writer; you’ll have the tools to create content in various formats.
Cons
- Not suitable for complex writing tasks: Simplified may not suit users with more complex writing needs or those seeking extensive support in areas such as in-depth article creation or technical content writing.
