When I first came across GoHighLevel about 3.5 years ago, I was trying to do three things.

I wanted to build funnels, automate follow-ups, and manage leads without bouncing between five different tools. I was tired of spending over $1,000 on separate subscriptions, so the “all-in-one” concept GHL was promising caught my attention.

At the time, I was testing Kajabi.

Then GoHighLevel showed up and basically said, “I can do all of that, and then some…better and more affordably than Kajabi

And that is both the exciting and slightly overwhelming thing about GoHighLevel, at least in my experience.

It promises to become the operating system behind your entire marketing and client management workflow.

Heck, you can even resell the platform under your own brand.

The catch is that GoHighLevel can feel powerful one minute and kind of messy the next.

It can help you save money by replacing several tools. But it can also introduce extra costs that only become obvious once you have used the platform for a while.

And that’s just two of the things you’ll want to know before using GoHighLevel.

Stick with me for the next few minutes, and you’ll find out the others yourself.

Quick decision

Now, I understand you may not have all the time in the world, so here’s the gist.

What I like about GHL? 👍

  • All-in-one marketing system: GHL combines funnels, CRM, email, SMS, calendars, workflows, memberships, lead generation, and reputation management into a single platform.
  • Great for marketing agencies and service businesses: Like Kartra or HubSpot, GHL is built for managing multiple client accounts, lead pipelines, and multi-channel marketing.
  • Strong CRM and pipeline management: You can also track contacts, conversations, and deal stages in one place.
  • Powerful marketing automation: GHL can automate lead nurturing, abandoned cart follow-ups, and other repetitive marketing tasks.
  • Personalized follow-ups through SMS and multi-channel messaging: You also get SMS, calls, voicemail drops, and Messenger to reach your leads.
  • Funnels connect to the rest of your sales system: You can trigger automations, update CRM records, and move leads through your pipelines.
  • White-labeling and SaaS Mode create resale potential: You are free to repackage GHL under your own brand and make recurring revenue from it.
  • Competitive pricing if you use enough features: GoHighLevel plans make sense if it replaces several of your existing tools (alternatives like ClickFunnels).
  • Solid integration options: GHL offers multiple connections, including with Zapier and SMS tools.

Still, HighLevel is not flawless…

What I don’t like about GoHighLevel? 👎

  • The learning curve is real: If you are coming from simpler tools like Systeme.io, GoHighLevel can take time (and effort) to master.
  • Some functions feel less polished: Not every GoHighLevel feature feels best-in-class.
  • The real cost can be higher than the base price: You pay separately for tools such as email sending, SMS, calls, AI tools, dedicated IPs, and other add-ons.
  • Occasional glitches: I’m not sure whether these were isolated bugs or broader platform issues, but now and then, something would simply stop working. Like, I couldn’t log into my GoHighLevel account for three weeks around May/June 2026.

👉 Update: I came across other users reporting issues like dropped phone calls and workflows that occasionally failed to trigger. These are solved now. Now, the issues didn’t seem to affect everyone. But they’re worth keeping in mind if your business depends heavily on marketing automation.

Upfront bottom line

If all you want is a simple funnel builder, email marketing tool, or online course platform, using GoHighLevel may feel a bit like buying an entire toolbox when you only need a screwdriver.

GoHighLevel combines CRM, funnels, websites, email marketing, automations, courses, and client management into a single platform. It is one of the strongest all-in-one platforms I’ve used for agencies and service businesses.

Still, I recommend you test GoHighLevel free for 30 days before you commit fully. The standard is a 14-day free trial. So, the extended trial below gives you more time to try GoHighLevel yourself.

💡 Quick note: This is a detailed GoHighLevel review based on my experience using the platform. You don’t have to read it from top to bottom. Feel free to jump to the sections that matter most to you. That said, if you’re seriously considering GoHighLevel, it’s worth reading more than one section because, as you’ll see, its features connect in ways that shape the overall experience.

Overview: What is GoHighLevel really?

GoHighLevel features
GoHighLevel features

GoHighLevel (or just “HighLevel”) is an all-in-one sales, marketing, CRM, and automation platform built mainly for agencies, consultants, and service businesses.

You can use GHL to:

  • Capture leads
  • Follow up with prospects
  • Book appointments
  • Manage pipelines
  • Build funnels
  • Send emails, Messenger DMs, and SMS messages
  • Create automation workflows
  • Sell physical and digital products
  • Manage multiple client accounts (and even resell the platform under your own brand for $497/month).

In other words, GoHighLevel wants to replace a good chunk of your marketing tech stack, like this:

Tools GoHighLevel wants to replace

That is the big promise here. And to be fair, GHL does deliver a lot.

But is GoHighLevel actually the smarter platform? Or, is it just another bloated tool trying to do too much?

Let’s take a closer look.

The GHL user interface has a learning curve

Right from login, I find the GoHighLevel dashboard clean and intuitive, at least a lot of the time.

GoHighLevel Agency dashboard
GoHighLevel Agency dashboard

As you add more sub-accounts, though, the interface can start to feel cluttered.

However, one area I like is that you can create multiple dashboards.

Add multiple dashboards to GoHighLevel interface
Add multiple dashboards to the GoHighLevel interface

So, instead of cramming every metric into one view, you can build separate dashboards for different clients, teams, or goals.

GoHighLevel subaccount features
GoHighLevel sub-account features

If you run an agency, this is handy. It’ll help you keep one dashboard for your own business while giving each client a dedicated view of their campaigns, leads, and performance.

👉 Bottom line: Once you become familiar with the GoHighLevel UI and UX, the dashboard starts to make much more sense.

GoHighLevel funnels do more for less

Creating funnels in GoHighLevel isn’t exactly difficult, but it isn’t straightforward either.

If you’re building a client’s website, landing page, or sales funnel, you’ll first need to create a sub-account.

Sub accounts in GoHighLevel
Create a sub-account in GoHighLevel

In fact, the sub-account system is a big reason I can see agencies loving HighLevel.

Once that’s done, switch into the sub-account, head to Sites, then Funnels, and you’re ready to start building your client’s business.

Yes, it took me a few tries to get used to switching between Agency Mode and Sub-Account Mode. But after that, the workflow clicks.

Another plus is that GoHighLevel lets you create unlimited funnels, unlike platforms like Kajabi, which limit them based on your plan.

I also like that GHL includes more than 1,000 funnel templates. A solid head start!

In my experience, the drag-and-drop builder is also easy to use, even when creating custom funnels from scratch.

Adding funnel steps in GoHighLevel

Better yet, there are a couple of other things I really like here (and I think you will, too):

  • Snapshots let you clone entire funnels, workflows, and assets across accounts. And that can save you hours when onboarding new clients.
  • Built-in A/B testing and step duplication make it easy to optimize funnels without rebuilding them.
  • Add voice calls, SMS, and Facebook Messenger directly into your funnels for multi-channel follow-ups.
  • Visual pipelines and automation rules move leads through your sales process with less manual work.

👉 GHL even offers a ClickFunnels import function (and Kajabi import for courses, btw) if you are considering migrating from ClickFunnels to GHL.

👉 Bottom line: GoHighLevel’s Snapshots, multi-channel automation, and built-in pipeline management are especially valuable for agencies and businesses managing multiple campaigns.

GHL’s landing page builder is polished

GoHighLevel gives you two ways to build websites and landing pages.

Start from scratch.

Or, customize one of the pre-built templates using its drag-and-drop page builder.

You can also add custom code or speed things up with ready-made page sections.

It reminds me a lot of Elementor for WordPress. However, Elementor still has the edge if you want advanced design options like custom typography, animations, widgets, and background effects.

Where GoHighLevel does better is integration. Your pages connect directly with the platform’s CRM, forms, calendars, email marketing, automations, and sales pipelines, so everything works together without extra plugins.

👍 I also like the Global Sections feature, which lets you reuse headers, footers, testimonials, and other page elements across your site. If you’ve used Elementor’s global templates, you’ll feel right at home.

There’s also Brand Boards. Instead of copying logos, colors, fonts, and brand assets into every project, you can store them in one place and reuse them across other pages and client accounts.

GoHighLevel page analytics

And to top it off, the built-in analytics make it easy to monitor how your pages are performing.

👉 Bottom line: GoHighLevel’s website builder isn’t the most advanced page builder I’ve used. What you’ll like, though, is how seamlessly it connects your lead-generation tools, including your CRM and funnels.

Email marketing in GHL needs attention

If email marketing is central to your business, this is one area I’d look at with a keen pair.

To begin, GoHighLevel lets you create one-off email campaigns, automated sequences, newsletters, and follow-up workflows from the same dashboard you use to manage your CRM and funnels.

AD 4nXfPXj8JWzyqlKf7HVLIbky6GKHCCWzBd14iy Hpu27mXN 1DXa 0t5eDgDUedYNl1ni 4yVgTPX6lnGdy2tRhijnvzUjq
Create email marketing campaigns in GoHighLevel

One thing I really like is the ability to add trackable links to both emails and SMS messages. This means you can trigger automations based on subscriber activity (while staying GDPR compliant, of course).

You can also automate everything from welcome emails and lead nurturing to abandoned cart reminders and A/B tests. And all without jumping between different tools.

To add to that, GHL provides over 600 email templates in Agency Mode.

GHL email templates
Polished GoHighLevel email templates

The Sub-Account Mode lets you design your own instead, like this:

One improvement I’m really liking is the addition of AI-powered email creation.

Instead of starting with a blank page, you can now ask AI to generate an email from scratch or use it to refine and expand your existing copy.

GHL email AI
GHL email AI

I gave it a try myself without paying anything extra. And yes, I was pleasantly surprised by the first draft it produced.

Create emails with AI GHL
Create emails with GoHighLevel AI

It still needed a few personal tweaks, but I can see how it’d save me a good amount of time on multiple campaigns.

Even better, those AI-generated emails plug straight into your GoHighLevel automation engine. Some examples here include:

  • Welcome and thank-you sequences
  • Lead nurturing campaigns
  • Abandoned cart reminders
  • Appointment follow-ups
  • Re-engagement campaigns
  • A/B tests and conversion optimization

Another thing here is that GoHighLevel provides real-time reporting on opens, clicks, and other campaign metrics.

GHL email analytics
GoHighLevel email analytics

That means you can see what’s working and adjust your campaigns without leaving the GoHighLevel platform.

However, my biggest concern about email marketing with GoHighLevel is email deliverability. 🙁

GoHighLevel recommends services like Mailgun for bulk email sending.

Now, while many businesses use them successfully, I’ve also come across users who weren’t happy with their deliverability (and email open rates) after switching from dedicated email marketing platforms.

That doesn’t mean you’ll experience the same thing.

But if email is a major revenue channel for you, I’d definitely test deliverability before migrating my entire email list. That’s exactly what the 30-day free trial is for.

👉 Bottom line: GHL combines email, SMS, voicemail drops, calls, Facebook Messenger, and automations into a single follow-up sequence. That often produces better engagement than relying on email alone.

GHL’s CRM is a multi-channel marketing engine

If there’s one feature that really ties GoHighLevel together, it’s the CRM.

Unlike traditional CRMs that simply store contacts, I like that GoHighLevel connects your conversations, appointments, automations, pipelines, and customer records in one place.

That means you always know where every lead is in your sales process and what should happen next.

GoHighLevel CRM
GoHighLevel CRM tools

I also like the Client Portal, where you can track projects, manage client interactions, and review previous conversations without switching between different tools.

💡 The built-in marketing automation is equally impressive. For example, instead of manually updating contacts or moving leads through your pipeline, GoHighLevel can handle lead assignments, tagging, segmentation, follow-ups, and opportunity management based on how people interact with your business.

Beyond that, the CRM includes several capabilities that can make your day-to-day lead management much easier:

  • Unified conversations bring together your emails, SMS system, calls, Messenger, and other communication channels in one inbox.
  • Tags and Smart Lists segment your contacts for more targeted, automated follow-ups.
  • Detailed contact management and opportunity records give you a complete picture of every lead as they move through your pipeline.
  • Lead scoring and pipeline automation can help you focus on prospects who are most likely to convert.
  • Built-in appointment scheduling helps your prospects book meetings without leaving the platform.

👉 Bottom line: GoHighLevel’s CRM acts as the engine that connects everything for efficient lead follow-ups. Just remember that services like SMS and phone calls are billed separately based on usage.

GHL is now a course platform

GoHighLevel isn’t just for typical agency work.

You can also use it to create, sell, and teach online courses, create membership sites, coaching programs, and digital downloads.

Better yet, you can do the same for your clients through sub-accounts.

GoHighLevel courses and communities

You can even sell physical products (although dropshipping isn’t supported).

One thing I noticed during this update is how much the course builder has improved.

Here’s the Before:

And here’s the After:

You can now build courses with videos, audio, PDFs, live coaching sessions, and other lesson materials. This makes it flexible enough for most creators and students’ learning styles.

Another welcome addition is Ask AI for Courses. When I first used GoHighLevel, this feature didn’t exist.

Now, AI can help you generate course outlines, lesson content, quizzes, drip schedules, and even course offers through a conversational interface.

Ask AI for Courses GHL
I asked GHL’s Ask AI for Courses to create a 6-week course overview for real estate agents

Yes, it won’t replace your expertise just yet. But it can dramatically speed up your first drafts.

Moving on, you can also offer free or paid courses, issue completion certificates, and accept one-time or installment payments.

Better yet, Community Groups lets you connect your courses directly to a community to keep your students engaged beyond the lessons.

GoHighLevel community building
GHL communities and memberships

That puts GoHighLevel much closer to community platforms like Skool, Circle.so, and Mighty Networks than it was a few years ago.

However, you won’t find engagement tools like gamification, leaderboards, or challenges here.

Helpful Resources:

However, where I think GoHighLevel really shines here is how seamlessly it connects to the rest of the platform.

For example, you can automatically enroll new students after a purchase, nurture leads who haven’t enrolled yet, and trigger personalized follow-up emails.

You can even update students’ CRM records, book coaching calls, and move your learners with AI-powered automation.

👉 Bottom line: GoHighLevel may not replace the very best dedicated course platforms for every creator. But if your goal is to sell courses and memberships as part of a larger marketing and sales ecosystem, HighLevel will be a compelling all-in-one choice.

GHL’s reputation tool is underrated

If you (or your clients) run a local business, agency, or service-based company, online reviews can make or break your reputation.

With GoHighLevel, you can automatically send review requests via SMS, email, or QR code once you set it up. So, no need to ask every customer, every time, manually.

HighLevel reputation management
Monitor online reviews in GoHighLevel

The automation alone is a huge time-saver, especially if you’re managing multiple clients’ reviews, video testimonials, and locations.

Beyond collecting reviews, you can monitor what your customers are saying (ratings) from platforms like Yelp!, Google reviews, and Meta.

Automate reputation management in HighLevel
Automate reputation management in GoHighLevel

Better yet, you can build a review funnel. So, instead of sending every customer straight to a public review site, you can collect feedback privately first.

That gives you a chance to resolve issues before encouraging happy customers to leave public reviews.

And now, GoHighLevel can even use AI to respond to new reviews on your behalf.

👉 Bottom line: If online reviews are crucial to attracting new customers for you, I believe GHL’s reputation management tools can make a difference to your online credibility.

GHL’s integrations keep getting better

No all-in-one platform can do everything perfectly, and as I can see here, GoHighLevel appreciates that.

Instead, it offers plenty of ways to connect the tools you already use through its growing App Marketplace. The marketplace is available to both agency owners and sub-accounts.

About two years ago, I found roughly 350 apps here.

GoHighLevel App Marketplace
GoHighLevel App Marketplace

Today, that number has grown to 2,100+ integrations. And they cover everything from marketing and payments to customer support.

GoHighLevel app marketplace
The GoHighLevel App Marketplace is growing

Some of the most useful integrations I like here include:

  • WhatsApp for business messaging and SMS marketing platforms like Twilio.
  • Google Calendar for appointment scheduling and calendar syncing.
  • Zapier for connecting thousands of additional apps without writing code.
  • CRM integrations with two-way syncing to keep customer data consistent across your platforms.

👉 Bottomline: If your business already relies on a particular tool, GoHighLevel probably integrates with it.

GHL has AI Agents!

One of the biggest improvements I’ve noticed is how seriously GoHighLevel has embraced AI.

Let’s be honest. Conversation AI assistants are now an expected feature in most modern business software. So it’s great to see GoHighLevel baking them in (and practically so!).

New GoHighLevel AI tools

And they didn’t just add an AI chatbot and called it a day.

Instead, you can use it to write emails, generate courses, and even power voice AI and chat agents.

GoHighLevel AI Agents
Expect a whole lot of conversational AI Agents to choose from on GoHighLevel

I especially like that it handles incoming calls surprisingly well and knows when it’s time to bring a human into the conversation instead of trying to do everything itself.

That said, I’d still recommend testing the AI thoroughly before letting it handle your customer support on its own. This extended 30-day free trial gives you plenty of time to see how it performs in your own business (and how much it really costs).

Build your own SaaS business with GoHighLevel

If I had to pick one feature that truly separates GoHighLevel from platforms like Kajabi, ClickFunnels, and Kartra, this would be it.

Instead of simply using GoHighLevel, you can resell it under your own brand.

To do that, you’ll need the Unlimited ($297/month) plan with SaaS Mode enabled.

Once you’re set up, you can create branded client accounts, customize the experience, and charge your own monthly subscription instead of sending customers directly to GoHighLevel.

You can even resell select Marketplace apps and services.

GoHighLevel apps reseller program
GoHighLevel’s app reselling program

Your clients still get access to GoHighLevel’s core features, while you can add value through:

  • Your own proven Snapshots
  • Pre-built sales funnels
  • Custom automated workflows, and more

The SaaS Mode also gets you:

  • Unlimited client sub-accounts
  • White-label branding
  • API access for custom integrations.

Also, if you want to take branding even further, GoHighLevel also offers white-label mobile apps for iOS, Android, and desktop.

GoHighLevel mobile apps
Create white-label mobile apps in GoHighLevel

👉 Bottomline: SaaS Mode is also one of the platform’s biggest competitive advantages, if not THE. Just remember that you’re also committing to supporting the clients who’ll come with it (and staying within the reseller program’s pricing and licensing rules).

GHL’s support was better than I expected

For a platform with so much going on, I like that getting help is pretty easy.

For example, support is available directly from your dashboard through the Help Center and 24/7 live chat.

GoHighLevel support options
GoHighLevel support options

Once you sign up, you’ll also get onboarding videos, a welcome course, documentation, and access to the support team.

👌🏽 I reached out after getting stuck while building funnels, and Travis from support replied within about 24 hours. He even followed up afterward to make sure everything was working. That’s always a good sign.

If you’d rather skip the setup altogether, GoHighLevel also offers paid onboarding and implementation services.

GHL account setup plans

My experience with support was positive overall. That said, I’ve seen other users report slower response times from time to time, so your mileage may vary.

GHL’s pricing can get complex

GoHighLevel’s own pricing is straightforward, like this:

GoHighLevel pricing
GoHighLevel pricing

The Starter Plan ($97/month) includes unlimited contacts, funnels, websites, products, courses, and CRM functionality. That makes it a solid option for freelancers, consultants, and small businesses.

But it’s the Unlimited Plan ($297/month) that unlocks agency-focused capabilities, such as unlimited sub-accounts and some API access.

The thing is that not everything is included in your monthly subscription.

Services like email sending, SMS, phone calls, AI, and some third-party integrations are billed separately based on usage.

GoHighLevel pricing add-ons

That’s fairly common among modern SaaS platforms, but it’s also where some new users get caught off guard.

👉 Bottom line: If you’re only sending a few emails and SMS messages each month, these charges will likely be minimal. They become more noticeable as your audience and automation grow.

GoHighLevel Review: My Verdict

After testing GoHighLevel for more than three years, I think it delivers on its biggest promise.

That is, once everything is set up, GoHighLevel gets all the tools working together.

Is it perfect? No.

The interface can still feel cluttered, the occasional bug pops up, and I’d definitely test email deliverability before relying on it for large campaigns.

For agencies, consultants, and service-based businesses, that can mean replacing several disconnected tools. It can also mean opening up an entirely new recurring revenue stream through SaaS Mode.

My recommendation?

Take advantage of the extended 30-day free trial of GoHighLevel. Create a funnel and test the automations. If email marketing is important to your business, run a few deliverability tests on your own audience as well.

If it fits the way you work, you’ll see why so many agencies have adopted GoHighLevel.

If not, don’t force it.

One of these GoHighLevel alternatives may be a better fit for your business instead.

The best GoHighLevel alternatives in 2026

Compare these:

  • Choose Kartra vs GoHighLevel if you want a powerful all-in-one marketing platform like GHL, although Kartra may be more expensive and less agency-focused than GoHighLevel. See that in this detailed Kartra review here.
  • Choose Kajabi vs GoHighLevel if you’re after a more polished platform for selling online courses, coaching programs, and community building (including a gamification system). See my in-depth GoHighLevel vs. Kajabi comparison here.
  • Choose ClickFunnels vs GoHighLevel if your main priority is building high-converting sales funnels without the added complexity of an agency-focused CRM. See this hands-on GoHighLevel vs. ClickFunnels review here.
  • Choose Systeme.io vs GoHighLevel if you’re just getting started or want the best value for your money. It covers the essentials surprisingly well without the higher monthly cost. Check out my honest GoHighLevel vs. Systeme.io comparison.

👉 My final recommendation: If you run an agency, consultancy, or service business that lives on leads, automations, and client management, I’d still lean toward GoHighLevel. But if you’re primarily a course creator or coach, one of the alternatives above may be a better long-term fit.
