Looking to spice up your Notion pages? Want to make them more visually appealing?
Adding a cover image can help set the tone and keep you focused on the right things.
Don’t know where to start? No worries! We’ve compiled a list of best resources for aesthetic Notion covers.
Whether you’re looking for stock images, generators, or want to build from scratch, we’ve got you covered.
Plus, keeping things minimal is always an option if that’s more your style.
So, let’s get started and take your Notion pages to the next level!
Dimensions
According to Notion’s official documentation, the cover images are dynamic. That is, they change depending on the available space and screen size. So, the same image can look different on different devices, even if the window size is changed. They recommend using an image that is at least 1500 pixels wide.
If you are trying to build something of your own or want to pick something that looks great on all devices, try to aim for dimensions around 1500px x 600px. Some parts will be cropped out based on different screen sizes. The region that’s visible in all screen sizes is 1170px x 230px.
The following image from gridfiti.com nicely shows which parts of the cover image appear on which devices. They have written a blog explaining this in more detail, including the pixel dimensions of each colored section.
To summarize, the Blue region is visible on every screen size. The orange region is rarely ever visible. On the desktop, as the screen is wider, the yellow region is also visible. On mobile, as the screen has more vertical space than horizontal, you can see a green region, but not yellow.

Find Cover Photos
Stock Image Sites
One of the simplest and easiest ways to add good-looking covers to Notion is to use already-existing photos. Maybe you have a collection of your favorite photos. Great! Go ahead with that. But what if you don’t have such a thing?
That’s where stock photo sites come in. They provide a library of images to choose from. Unsplash is one of many stock photo libraries available on the internet. Notion already comes with Unsplash Integration built right into it. You can easily search and find something that piques your interest in its collection of over 3 Million images.
Other prominent stock image sites that you can use
- StockSnap.io: Collection of free stock images to be used anywhere. Even attribution is optional.
- Pexels.com: Another stock photo library with 3.2 million free stock photos and videos
- Freepik.com: Founded in 2010, it is a collection of 25 million graphic resources, including photos, vector graphics, and backgrounds.
