Do content scrapers' websites or blogs outrank your original content?

Don't know how to jot down content scrapers?

Well, Copyscape is the best tool to deal with content scrapers. However, it is a premium tool. If you're running low on budget then Copyscape may not be for you.

So in this post, I'm going to introduce some of the free alternatives that help you catch content thieves.

Creating quality content every day? Not getting organic traffic? Are your competitors getting immense traffic? Is this the case with you?

Here are some of the Copyscape alternatives

In these alternatives, there are some, but not all the features of Copyscape. But, however, when combined, these tools are as powerful as Copyscape.

#1. Grammarly

Grammarly is the best proofreader tool on the web. It lets you write content that is grammatically correct without any typos. There are two versions of Grammarly, one is the free one with limited features and the pro version.

The free version comes with features like spelling checker, style checker and many more features.

But the premium version takes it the next level by adding features like writing profiles, plagiarism checker, and much more powerful features for checking the grammatical errors more effectively.

Grammarly plagiarism checker

Grammarly along with scanning all the webpages on the internet for plagiarism, also checks the ProQuest's database for articles, scholarly journals, newspapers, work-papers and datasets. This is something that is very powerful than any other plagiarism checking tools.

The best part about Grammarly is value for money as it comes with many features for proofreading, and grammar checking along with the plagiarism tool.

Akshay strongly recommends:
1. Grammarly Review 2019: A Complete Hands-on Analysis (15% OFF)
2. Grammarly Discount 2019: Readers’ Exclusive Discount (Special)
3. Grammarly vs. WhiteSmoke vs. Ginger – The Shootout Comparison!

#2. PlagTracker

It's a great tool for checking plagiarism. You can just enter the text and then hit the big red button, to start checking for plagiarism.

If you're using the free version of this tool, then it may take about 10 seconds to process. After that, it will present you the plagiarism percentage or calls you as the master of the content if it's not plagiarized.

This tool also has a premium version, which lets you check files and content without waiting. In addition, you can unlock many features like file upload, PDF report, API access, grammar check, database check, etc.

#3. DupliChecker

Without signing up this tool offers you one search query. For using this tool, later on, you should sign up for a free account.

Later on, you can manually enter the text to be checked. Alternatively, upload a document in format doc or docx.

The search will be hidden between two Google Adsense ads. Click on the green search button, to instantly check for a piece of content that's similar or copied from your blog posts.

Apart from this feature, it also offers some other free tools. Among those tools, the tools regarding the content plagiarism are plagiarism checker, anti-plagiarism banners.

#4. Plagiarisma

You can either input the text to be checked or enter the URL. On the other hand, you can even select a file with content, which has to be checked.

It scans Google database compulsorily and Babylon or Yahoo database on your choice.

The tool is available as a software or an Android app.

The Software makes the user experience much better.

#5. Plagium

Another free Copyscape alternative is Plagium.

It was offering free service. But for now, it only offers two queries as a trial. But later it will ask for credits.

There are two options quick search and deep search. Deep search is highly effective. However, for enabling deep search one has to sign up for a free account.

It's not as free as other above tools because the search query is limited to 2.

#6. CopyGator

It is just great. It does not simply scan the content of the website or the given text.

It analyzes the RSS feed of the given URL. Check for any plagiarism and returns the results.

You can also tell it to watch a particular RSS feed, by inputting the RSS URL in the search box.

If you want the tool to constantly monitor plagiarism, then you need to include CopyGator badge on your site or blog.

It is a completely free tool, but you have to include the CopyGator badge on your blog.

#7. Plagiarism Checker – Small SEO Tools

This tool is based on the unique idea of splitting the pasted content, to a number of sentences.

For example, if you have pasted the content of length 200 words in the search field, and submit it. Then it will split up the pasted content into about say 10 to 15 sentences and then search them individually on Google.

If there is any plagiarism, of any sentences, then it will show up the alert.

It will make the manual task of searching your pieces of writing, in Google one by one.

Plagiarism checker

You can either enter the text or upload a file containing the content to check against plagiarism.

It will later return the results, whether the content is unique or already plagiarized.

This tool will exactly compare 2 copies of the content and show you exactly how much content is plagiarized. You can also check the links of the plagiarized content.

#8. Plagiarism Software

This is one of the new Plagiarism checkers out there. You can try the tool out for free, if you are checking 1000 words.

There are various other plans you can choose for according to your needs.

You can upload a doc file, enter the URL and paste the text and check it for Plagiarism.

Other alternative tools to Copyscape

  1. Turnitin- Originality Check, Online Grading & Peer Review
  2. The Dustball Plagiarism Checker: Premium version of Dustball is three times accurate than that of the free version. It costs you around $8 per month. Quite affordable.
  3. Plagiarism Checker| Viper
  4. Doc Cop
  5. Custom Writings
  6. Ephorus

Final words

No tool can search plagiarism as thoroughly as Copyscape does. But for some of the perfect Copyscape alternatives when combined will be as effective as Copyscape.

If you find any content scrapers plagiarizing your content, then file a DMCA complaint with Google using this form. This removes the page of the content scraper, from Google search results.

If you leave the content scrapers, as they are, then your hard work will be wasted and you will never succeed in blogging. In order to tell Google the original content creator, you have to submit a DMCA takedown notice.

I hope the included all the best Copyscape alternatives in this blog post. If this list has helped you then do comment and share.

  1. Hi Akshay,

Thanks for puting this great list of tools together to track plagiarism, as I am sure there is way too much plagiarism online today. I did not know these were available, so maybe I’ll put them to use soon.

  2. Hi Akshay,

Thanks for sharing such great list,
You are right Copyscape is a great tool to find duplicate content but limited for free user. I used dulichecker and small seo tools website to check duplicate content and i found small seo tools very best. This website give me very great result. duplichecker is not as good as small seo tools. Other tools are new for me.

But I think small seo tools is enough to check duplicate content before publishing.
What you say about it ?

    Areesha Noor!

    1. Using small SEO tools is better. It checks line by line, which is of a great deal. It effectively scans the duplicate content.

If your content is unique enough then what’s the need of checking plagiarism before publishing? Sounds ridiculous!

      Thanks for stopping by.
