People are earning big money from Notion.
Thomas Frank is making $100,000 per month.
Marie from her Notion Mastery course making $40,000 per month.
Modest Mitkus in 2023 earned a whopping $300,000.
But you’re probably thinking, these people started 2-3 years ago, and the market’s now oversaturated.
Well, I don’t agree.
Notion as a niche still has low competition.
Let me explain.

Notion is not just a note-taking app
There’s a common misconception that Notion is just for note-taking, but that’s far from the truth.
Notion is actually a tool-building platform.
It provides all the fundamental building blocks to create any software or tool for almost any use case.
Yet, many people are unaware of its full potential.
And that’s why the Notion niche still has room to grow.
People are becoming more aware of optimizing their workflows, incorporating AI, and boosting productivity.
But the majority still sees Notion as just a note-taking tool.
This creates a huge market where you can step in to educate and offer services.
Notion templates
Selling Notion templates can be highly lucrative.
In the last two years, selling templates earned me over $15,000.
Many creators are also capitalizing on this market – selling planners, life systems, and specialized templates on platforms like Gumroad and Etsy.
For example, some are tapping into niche areas like Notion for ADHD.
Sellers like Mary Poulin are doing great in this untapped segment.
And when you expand into places like YouTube, where creators like Productive Setups share template demos, the sales potential grows even more.
You don’t even need to show your face—screen-sharing videos work just fine.
👉 Tip: To make your Notion templates stand out, aesthetics matter. People love beautiful, well-organized setups, especially students. Adding visually appealing elements like Notion covers or custom avatars can be a game-changer.
Create visuals and custom designs
If you’re a graphic designer, you can design Notion-related visuals like covers and avatars.
Although this might not generate massive income, it’s an easy side hustle because you can create these assets once and sell them indefinitely.
For example, people like Upstrat Lab are selling custom-made Notion avatars for $10 each.
Or take Sally on Gumroad, who’s doing well with Notion subject covers targeted at students.
Notion consulting
If you have deep experience with Notion and can understand a client’s business needs, becoming a Notion consultant could be your most profitable option.
To gain visibility, list yourself on the Notion consultant’s directory after passing the Notion certification exam.
You can also share free templates on the Notion marketplace for increased exposure.
Sam Bird is a great example of this.
He offers free templates like a Company Wiki and CRM, and later converts these users into paying clients.
Another great strategy for gaining clients is to create Notion tutorials on YouTube. Show your skills, and potential clients will come to you.
Once you get leads, direct them to book a one-on-one call by using tools like Cal.com.
You can ask questions like name, email, company name, role, and budget to filter the people and spend time only with qualified leads.
🤑 From there, map out their business needs and build their Notion system through iterative feedback, and consider offering ongoing retainer services for system maintenance.
Notion coaching
Not everyone will be ready to hire a consultant, but many small business owners want to learn Notion for themselves.
That’s where Notion coaching comes in.
You can offer one-on-one consultations, group coaching sessions, or even a full Notion course.
Take the Notion Mastery course, for example, which covers everything from A to Z.
While there are many courses out there, niching down can set you apart.
Be a coach for tech startups, students, or agencies.
If marketing isn’t your strong suit, you can always list your course on platforms like Udemy.
There are plenty of top-selling courses on Notion AI, Notion aesthetics, or you could even create a Notion course in your native language.
Coach for creators
Another option is to create a community of Notion lovers where you coach other Notion creators.
In this community, you could cater to both learners and creators, fostering collaboration.
When new projects come in, assign them to other creators for a revenue share.
This model leverages the network effect – as more creators join, knowledge-sharing and support grow, ultimately benefiting everyone.
Notion affiliate program
If you’re targeting large companies or enterprises, consider joining the Notion affiliate program.
They offer a 50% commission for the first 12 months.
For example, if you convince a company with 100 employees to purchase the Notion Enterprise plan, which costs $2,500 per month, you’ll earn $1,250 per month for the first year.
To make this strategy work, focus on people and businesses who haven’t used Notion before.
Host webinars, do offline conferences, and release templates aimed at introducing Notion to new users.
These efforts can result in major affiliate commissions.
Create SaaS tools around Notion
For the developers out there, you can create Chrome extensions powered by Notion.
There are already popular tools like Notion Boost for design tweaks and Super.so for website building on top of Notion.
Or you could build something like Indify, which creates beautiful widgets for Notion.
However, be cautious.
Notion can introduce features that make third-party tools obsolete overnight.
For example, when Notion charts were introduced, it disrupted several existing Notion chart tools.
