70 % of bloggers all around the world do not have English as their primary language. So proofreading tools are crucial for them while writing online. It’s common that bloggers commit grammatical mistakes and typos.

Google understands that nobody is perfect. So it does not care about minor grammatical mistakes. Nevertheless, remember, readers care. Readers like to read error-free blog posts.

Top 7 Proofreading tools that help you to be a better blogger

Here are the top 7 free online proofreading tools, which help you write error-free blog posts when used effectively. Manual proofreading even after using these tools is recommended.

Here we go top 7…

#1. ProWritingAid

ProWritingAid is the best proofreading tool that I have come across. This tool helps you edit as you write thus improving your writing style and vocabulary.

With its huge word explorer, it suggests you the right words by analyzing the surrounding context

ProWritingAid report

The good thing with ProWritingAid is that it allows you to create your own style guides and dictionaries. It also comes with data visualization charts and graphs for easier analysis.

The insights and the reports given by ProWritingAid are more compared to its competitors.

These include repetitiveness, vague wording, sentence length variation, over-dependence on adverbs, passive voice, over-complicated sentence constructions, and so much more.

ProWritingAid integrates with:

  1. Web
  2. Chrome Extension (Firefox, Safari, Edge)
  3. Google Docs
  4. Microsoft Office
  5. Desktop (Scrivener)
  6. Education
  7. Essay Checker
  8. Grammar Checker API
  9. Grammar Checker Component

#2. Grammarly

Grammarly-proofreader

Grammarly is the best online proofreading tool next to Ginger. It integrates with your Chrome browser and corrects any mistakes you do when typing in any text area inside the browser, including blog post-editors.

I use Grammarly for my blog editing and writing processes. I find it highly useful for improving my writing skills, as it identifies the most common mistakes I commit.

It is the most intelligent grammar checker tool as of now.

I strongly recommend this tool, if you are in need of a good feature-rich, intelligent grammar checker tool.

Refer the guide where I compared Grammarly with WhiteSmoke and Ginger if you are looking for a premium version of Grammarly.

#3. Whitesmoke

Whitesmoke is one of the cheap punctuation checking tools best for bloggers, freelance writers, students, etc.

It comes with features like:

  1. Grammar Checker

  5. Translator

Whitesmoke’s translator supports over 50 languages.

Whitesmoke integrates with Microsoft Word & Outlook. It is compatible with Windows and all browsers. Whitesmoke has a mobile application available for both iOS and Android devices.

Whitesmoke Grammar corrector provides templates for cover letters, grant proposals, thank you messages, etc.

Whitesmoke pricing

When it comes to pricing, Whitesmoke costs $5/mo. But this plan lacks some features like One-click instant proofreading, licenses, phone support, etc.

The premium plan costs $6.66/mo and the business plan costs $11.50/mo.

If you go with a 3-year plan you will get a 50% offer.

The downside with Whitesmoke is its desktop has limited checking. Also, its plagiarism checking is a little confusing with the desktop app.

#9. Hemingway App (Killer)

Many times you get lost in blogging and don’t include a single punctuation mark in your blog post. I bet it happens most of the times.

This is where Hemingway app comes into action. It helps you put a finger on long, complex and redundant phrases in your blog post and marks it. You can now simplify the long, complex phrases in your blog post by inserting proper punctuation marks and simplify the meaning.

This app is very useful for me. And it is killer, the results are damn spot on.

It is also available as the offline desktop application, which costs you some dimes.

Final words

Make sure that you proofread blog posts manually before publishing. As all tools, these proofreading tools also commit niche-specific dumb mistakes. Do not blindly approve all the grammatical errors suggested by these tools.

I hope you found this post on free proofreaders useful.
