There are several blogging tips to take away from Eminem’s songs and writing style.
Marshall Mathers, well known as Eminem. Known for his lyrics that are profane and equally poetic.
Since 2010, if I have heard songs, then they were Em’s songs! His songs are highly addictive.
After listening to his songs, you hardly listen to other songs.
Let it be…
You can learn several things from Eminem.
By analyzing his living style, lyrics writing and singing style we can learn a lot and adopt the same in our blog posts and blogging career.
Many people misinterpret his lyrics as offensive, but he sometimes drops F bombs, when he badly needs to use it. He stresses the feeling that he has got by using such words.
Well, let me come to the mainstream.
Things a blogger should take away from Eminem:
Here starts the Eminem Guide…
In this guide, you'll learn
- 1 Be direct, convey what you feel
- 2 More meaning in fewer words
- 3 Controversial stuff
- 4 Experiment often
- 5 Don’t give a damn to criticism.
- 6 Failures are the stepping-stones to success (uff…)

- 11 Final words
Be direct, convey what you feel
Eminem has a loyal fan base because he spits out what strikes his mind. He is damn direct.
He leveraged America’s Right to Speech to its fullest.
The same if you adopt in blogging, helps a lot. Your readers will love it. Same way you will also build a loyal fan base.
To conclude, be direct and write whatever strikes your mind. Be direct; be honest. Convey your readers, whatever flashes in your mind. Follow razor-sharp approach and I bet most of your readers will love it.
Why bother to tell what you feel? Successful blogging is all about expressing what you feel without any hesitation.
More meaning in fewer words
Take a line from Eminem’s song. Interpret and explain it in common English. I bet it will take around 2-5 sentences to explain it.
Consider this phrase from Oscar-winning song Lose Yourself:
"I've been chewed up and spit out and booed off stage But I kept rhyming and stepped right into the next cypher Best believe somebody's paying the pied piper All the pain inside amplified by the fact That I can't get by with my 9 to 5 And I can't provide the right type of life for my family"
Well, you can easily interpret the meaning of the above lyrics. The meaning of the part that you may have not understood is,
In spite of his effort from 9am to 5pm, he was booed offstage. Because of this fact, his pain was amplified.
We in blogging take about 300 characters to convey the same meaning. This is because we use more filler words and we attempt to convey strong emotions using weak adjectives.
As you may already know that online readers have a short attention span they keep on bouncing upon all the other stuff on the web. How to make the readers stick to your blog This is by conveying more message in few words.
Give some work to your readers mind to analyze your words. Tap into your readers’ mental schema. Convey abstract messages.
Eminem is the most controversial singer I’ve ever heard. But not his every song is controversial.
In blogging also…
You already have guessed what I’m going to tell. Well, read it anyways. You may have missed a point 😉
Spread some controversial posts here and there in your blog. Controversy drives you massive traffic and well as negative feedback.
So be true, avoid unnecessary controversies. Avoid false disses.
By true blogging disses, you increase loyal readership and lose a few of your readers who disagree with you (Even NO), they may be curious about what you are publishing.
Eminem likes to experiment here and there in his songs. He then sticks to the style, which fans love. However, he keeps experimenting.
Ex: Slim Shady voice, Marshall’ voice or Eminem’s voice.
Like this, experiment on your blog by adopting different strategies.
Examine what works the best and stick on to it. However, never stop experimenting.
Experiment with different styles of writing.
Experimentation is very important, especially in blogging. It helps in determining your blogging style that readers love the most. If you adapt to the blogging style that your readers love, then there will be a success in your career.
Don’t give a damn to criticism.
Pay attention to those who identify your true potential, but not the one who criticizes or tease you from your back.
As I said, Eminem is the most controversial rapper. He makes wide way to criticisms.
Some of them hate him and most of them love him.
That’s the nature of life. Isn’t it?
Without haters and critics, there will be no fun. With no enemies, there will be no thrill in life.
If you have enemies, good that means you stood up for something.
Got negative comments? Welcome them positively. Negative comments are not always criticisms.
As you move up in your blogging career, like any other case there will be a number of backstabbers.
Dealing with backstabbers there was one thing I learned. They’re only powerful when you got your back turned
Always pay attention to those who see the positive sides of you and one who is optimistic about you.
Surrounding yourself with people, who are true to you, makes way for creative thinking and encourages you to blow up and be in a position.
Failures are the stepping-stones to success (uff…)
Eminem failed many times in his career as a singer. He had a tough childhood who was often bullied and beaten up.
He lost many of his initial rap battles. Nevertheless, he made use of these failures as the stepping-stone to success.
If you have watched the movie 8 Mile, the above paragraph would have made great sense to you. This movie clearly shows how he succeeded in the final rap battle, in spite of his initial failures.
Most of the bloggers quit blogging because they fail repeatedly.
You might have heard a thousand times. I will add one more time to it!
“Failures are the stepping stones to success”
Do not merely read the quotes! DO understand it, interpret it, apply it in your life, take an example, and be aware of the quote all the time.
Keep your paragraph prior to conclusion strong
If you listen to Em regularly, you may notice that in his songs, the lyrical content prior to the conclusion is strong and sometimes arrow headed.
Listeners, who are listening to his songs, think that the song is going to end, but that’s the point where Eminem sprinkles the actual strong feeling.
Sometimes I intentionally forced forward, some Eminem songs, prior to the end. I really love the lines prior to the end of Eminem’s songs.
Following the same strategy in blogging helps a lot. Keeping the paragraph prior to your conclusion or final words, strong, reward your loyal readers, who read your blog posts thoroughly point by point.
Those who just skim through your blog posts will surely miss it. The fact is that they don’t deserve it.
In other words, both starting and ending of your blog post should be strong,
“First and last impressions last forever”
Take time and produce quality masterpieces
At the time of writing this post, the latest Eminem album was MMLP2. It’s outstanding.
He released this album after 2 years of break from his rap career. But the outcome was significant. It is no wonder if he took 2 years to produce his single song like Rap God.
Have you ever wondered the degree to which the fans of EM craved for his songs while he is on break?
They kept on asking, “Hey Em, when will you release your next album.”
During his long break. If you searched Google for “Eminem’s…” Google was suggesting “Eminem’s upcoming album”.
I’m also one of the cravers for Eminem’s songs.
As you can notice, he took a long break. That’s OK. But the outcome was outstanding.
Same in blogging, I’m not talking about events or tech news blog.
Quality wins over consistency or blog update rate. Producing masterpiece blog post by taking 1 month of time is a great deal. However, many of the bloggers can’t do this.
I suggest my readers post a quality blog post once in 2-3 days. Producing great blog posts daily or several times a day is not possible for many of the bloggers.
Rhyming and rhythmic approach
If you hear Eminem, you can notice that he follows a unique rhyming approach.
Watch the below video to notice his unique rhythmic approach.
A lot of my rhymes are just to get chuckles out of people. Anybody with half a brain is going to be able to tell when I’m joking and when I’m serious. – Eminem
Anybody with a slight analysis can tell when he is serious and when he is joking. Same applies to blog writing style.
He, by including rhythmic words in his songs, is trying to capture the attention and smiles out of people.
Adopt this very strategy while blogging. Follow some rhythmic approach. But I’m not telling you to write rhymes instead of blogging. Keep rhymes to a minimum.
Sprinkle some rhythmic stuff to your blog posts here and there. So that it will be easier and fun to read for your readers.
The way that the rhythmic blog posts are read is great.
Practice storytelling and also highlight your negative sides
Eminem loves to tell stories, especially personal stories. He highlights both his positive and negative sides.
Consider this phrase from his MMLP2 Legacy song.
"I used to be the type of kid that would always think the sky is falling Why am I so differently wired? Am I a Martian? What kind of twisted experiment am I involved in Because I don't belong in this world That's why I'm scoffing at authority, defying often Flying off at the handle with my mom, no dad So I'm non complying at home, at school I'm just shy and awkward"
In this above lyrical phrase, he is describing his childhood. In the first four lines, he describes his positive side. He was a different kind of kid. He was thinking in a different angle. He considered himself as different from others. He suffered from many problems that made him feel that he was involved in a complex experiment headed by someone.
He also highlighted his negative sides or weaknesses in the last three paragraphs. He was often scoffing at authority because his thinking style was unique than others.
He was shy and awkward at school. He was often bullied and beaten up badly.
Like this, you should include both the positive and negative aspects in your blogging. Consider including your personal story related to the topic that you are blogging upon, involve your readers. Storytelling is an effective way to tap the subconscious mind of your readers.
Storytelling connects you with your readers strongly. It creates a strong emotional bond.
Nobody loves the entire story while reading a blog post. Include interesting or personal stories here and there in your blog post. That helps readers understand the content better.
These are some of the great blogging lessons you have to learn from Eminem.
Eminem is indeed an exceptionally great rapper and a perfectionist. His songs and even interviews are great and inspirational.
If you look at a person in a particular angle, we can notice that there’s something to learn from every person. By looking at Em, at such an angle helped me to publish this article.
I hope you enjoyed this Eminem guide to blogging. I took 7 hours to write this article, I hope you share this blog post or at least leave a comment if you liked it.
